Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau was established on March 16,1992, by a group of parents of people with intellectual disabilities. This non-profit organization provides mutual support and assistance to its members, as well as to arouse social awareness for their learning opportunities and rights.
● Promote mutual help among members.
● Strive for the rights and benefits of people with intellectual disabilities.
● Educate the public and get their acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities.
Parents or guardians of people with intellectual disabilities can apply for membership.
Bring the following to our center:2 color photos of the parent/ guardian and of the people with intellectual disabilities, photocopies of each person’s valid Macau ID
Become life member after 10 years
Members provide and receive cares and supports through sharing.
Connect and organize parents to arouse public concern and to strive for the reasonable rights and services of the people with intellectual disabilities.
Offer advice to parental concerns, and referral to government departments or relevant service agencies.
Liaise with government departments to enable the people with intellectual disabilities to receive continuous trainings and necessary services.
Conduct events (regularly or irregularly) such as interest classes, seminars and fun days, etc., to empower the parents when facing challenges in life.
Organize home visits and caring activities and provide emergency assistance when necessary.
Provide counseling to families in need.
